A School in Port Harcourt Built Around One Belief

Every child who walks through our gates deserves to be known - not just enrolled. That belief is not a mission statement. It is the reason our class sizes are small, our teachers are chosen carefully, and our doors stay open to every parent, any day.

Our Story

Pleasant Places School - built for the Port Harcourt family

Pleasant Places School was founded with a straightforward conviction: that the quality of early education determines the trajectory of a child's entire academic life, and that quality is only possible when a school is small enough to know its children well.

We chose Port Harcourt - specifically Rumuomasi - because we saw a community of families who wanted something more intentional than the large-enrolment schools that dominate Rivers State. They wanted a school where their child would be seen on day one and still be seen on the last day of the school year.

That is the school we built. And that is the school we are still building, one class at a time.

Our Principles

What we stand for - and what we refuse to compromise on

Our Mission

To provide every child in Port Harcourt with a safe, nurturing, and academically rigorous early education - one where small class sizes, qualified teachers, and genuine relationships produce confident, capable young people.

Our Vision

To be the school that Port Harcourt parents trust most - not because of marketing or facilities, but because of the consistent quality of what happens inside our classrooms every single day, term after term.

Our Values

Known, not just enrolled. Every child is an individual. Open, not opaque. Every parent deserves honest communication. Intentional, not accidental. Every decision in this school is made on purpose.

Why Choose PPS

Four things that make Pleasant Places genuinely different

Safe, Supervised Environment

Our Rumuomasi campus is controlled at every entry point. Every area is supervised. Parents can visit at any time, any day - we have nothing to hide and every reason to welcome you.

Small Class Sizes

Our class sizes are intentionally limited. Not as a policy statement - as an operating commitment. Every teacher at PPS knows every child in their class as an individual, not as a number on a register.

Nigerian & British Blended Curriculum

Our curriculum combines the Nigerian national framework with British educational enrichment - giving children the local academic grounding they need and the global competitiveness that matters.

Dedicated SEN Support

Our SEN Unit is not a policy add-on. It is a full programme - staffed by trained specialists, built around individual learning plans, and integrated into the wider school community.

Curriculum

Nigerian & British - the best of both in one school

Our blended curriculum is not a compromise. It is a deliberate combination: the rigour of the Nigerian national curriculum and the inquiry-based enrichment of British educational frameworks, delivered together in small, well-taught classes.

Children who graduate from PPS are not choosing between being locally competitive and globally prepared - they are both. That matters increasingly in a world where Nigerian students sit for British O-levels, attend universities across three continents, and build careers that cross borders.

What Port Harcourt parents say

"I have recommended PPS to every parent I know in GRA. The quality of teaching is exceptional, but what really keeps us here is the simple fact that my child is known and loved by her teachers."

"We compared five schools in Port Harcourt before choosing PPS. What made the decision easy in the end was not any single thing - it was the accumulated feeling of being at a school where people clearly care about doing it right. That feeling has not faded in three years."

"My twins started here at two and a half. They are now seven and eight. I have never had a reason to look elsewhere. The school grows with your children - the same warmth in the creche is still there in the primary. That consistency is rare."
